Progress can’t be stopped...
Don’t think that we are content with what we reached. The Elise Audio-System will be improved continuously. Our goals are to further optimize the sound
quality and reduce weight at the same time. But don’t be afraid that this will have an influence on the price of the system - that’s the only thing we won’t change!
10/03/2002 A comparable solution for the Elise S2 is in preparation. We
expect to achive the same sound quality, although we have to use different mounting places for the front midwoofers. The location of the subwoofer (which fits without any mods), the eciters and the front tweeters
will be the same. The midwoofers will be placed in small closed hosings exactly where the speakers of the “Sports Tourer” version of the S2 is mounted.
07/23/2002 The exciters have been improved with higher efficiency and larger
bandwidth. Therefore the parametric filters of the rear channels had to be adopted. The new schematic diagram shows the larger complexity of the Elise Audio System. And furthermore the
speed-dependent Equalizing is now ready (the roof compensation as well).
07/11/2002 Reorganization of the website for better clearness
07/05/2002 Another upgrade will be implemented soon - four switchable
parametric filters will be added to the amplifier module in order to smoothen the frequency response when the soft top is mounted. Later measurements have shown four undesirable peaks in the frequency curve. The wee
switch will be placed in the right tweeter housing and is nearly invisible. Finally this improvement means that the Elise Audio System is now even suitable for the Exige
06/04/2002 DA CAPO is not only
offering sophisticated and unusual acoustical solutions for the Elise, but also for home audio applications. Have a look at the NautiX, which is an excellent yet very affordable speaker with a special design (see HomeHifi)
06/02/2002 During the Lotus meeting in the course of the 24h race on the
Nurburgring several people already had the chance for a first sound check. All agreed that they never heard something like that in an Elise before.
05/26/2002 At moment we are working on a speed-dependent equalizer. A plug-in
module with two
parametric filters will be added to the 4 filters for the front and 2 filters for the rear channels which are already implemented. The gain of the additional filters depends on the speed of the car (therefore the signal from the speedometer has to be tapped). The target is to improve the smoothness of the sound even at higher speed.
05/24/2002
We dropped the rear speakers in the original mounting places and replaced them by so-called Exciters, which are glued to the backside of the seats. Advantages: better
sound reproduction, music can be felt now, further weight optimization (because the mounting panels for the original speakers can be dropped as well)
05/13/2002 We replaced the 87mm woofers on the dashboard by 100mm drivers. Advantages: better sound, higher sensitivity, less weight.
